Retention

When we remove your braces, we will begin the retention stage of your treatment. The retention phase lasts for a minimum of 24 months. Your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you’ve put in so far. Remember to remove your retainer before brushing, and brush your retainer before placing it back in your mouth.

There are many types of retainers that can be used. Some are bonded to the teeth and some are removable. The type of retainer that is chosen for you is determined by several factors, which include the starting positions of the teeth, oral hygiene during care, final tooth positions, and the patient's individual oral anatomy. Please talk with the doctors before the braces are removed to discuss what types of retainers will be best suited for your teeth.
